New global balances are pushing Europe toward defense and innovation
Conflicts that have gradually moved closer to the European context in recent years have brought the issue of defense back to the center of political, industrial, and economic attention. These are no longer distant scenarios, but a concrete transformation that affects national strategies and industry priorities. In this context, security is increasingly interpreted in a broader sense: not only military defense, but also the protection of infrastructure, the resilience of production systems, and technological capability.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, global defense spending has reached record levels in recent years, a sign of a structural redefinition of international balances.
A volatile global environment is accelerating European strategies
Growing attention to defense is also leading to increased cooperation among European countries, with the aim of strengthening shared capabilities and reducing strategic dependencies.
Technologies such as autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and integrated platforms are becoming central to the development of new defense capabilities, with significant spillover effects also in the civil and industrial sectors.
A new platform for the sector: DSEI Germany
In this context, DSEI Germany is introduced as the new international defense and security event that will take place in Hannover from March 9 to 12, 2027.
The initiative is designed to connect governments, armed forces, and industry, creating a meeting point between national requirements and international cooperation.
With over 25,000 expected participants, more than 900 exhibitors, and delegations from over 60 countries, DSEI Germany aims to be a strategic platform for the development of capabilities and technologies, in line with the priorities of the German Ministry of Defence and with European and NATO objectives.
From aerospace technologies to land and naval systems, as well as cybersecurity and support systems, the event will offer a comprehensive overview of a rapidly evolving sector that is becoming increasingly central in defining the future of industry and global security.
