C&rsquo;est l&rsquo;avenir de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire, qui devrait compl\u00e9ter les \u00e9nergies renouvelables en garantissant un approvisionnement continu en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9.<\/h2>\r\n<!-- \/wp:post-content -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>Apr\u00e8s des d\u00e9cennies de stagnation, l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire est revenue au centre du d\u00e9bat mondial. Mais son visage a chang\u00e9 : il est d\u00e9sormais plus intelligent, plus modulaire et davantage ax\u00e9 sur la durabilit\u00e9. Quatre facteurs cl\u00e9s stimulent ce regain d&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat : la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d&rsquo;atteindre la neutralit\u00e9 climatique, l&rsquo;implication croissante des capitaux priv\u00e9s dans l&rsquo;innovation nucl\u00e9aire et une nouvelle vague d&rsquo;avanc\u00e9es technologiques qui semble acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer le changement.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration se d\u00e9veloppe selon deux axes principaux. D&rsquo;un c\u00f4t\u00e9, les petits r\u00e9acteurs modulaires (SMR) et les r\u00e9acteurs de quatri\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration (Gen-IV), qui promettent une s\u00e9curit\u00e9 accrue et une r\u00e9duction des d\u00e9chets nucl\u00e9aires. De l&rsquo;autre, la fusion nucl\u00e9aire, encore au stade exp\u00e9rimental mais au c\u0153ur d&rsquo;un effort industriel majeur impliquant les \u00c9tats-Unis et l&rsquo;Europe. Des startups telles qu&rsquo;Oklo, NuScale, TerraPower, Rolls-Royce SMR et Kairos Power font progresser les technologies de fission de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, tandis que Commonwealth Fusion Systems, Helion, Marvel, Renaissance et Proxima Fusion m\u00e8nent la course vers la fusion. En Europe, des projets comme Newcleo (dont le si\u00e8ge est \u00e0 Turin et \u00e0 Londres) et l&rsquo;allemand Proxima Fusion relient directement la recherche scientifique \u00e0 une fabrication de haute valeur. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;un \u00e9cosyst\u00e8me vaste et complexe qui, il faut le reconna\u00eetre, a attir\u00e9 des investissements importants mais n&rsquo;a pas encore fourni de solutions commercialement viables.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:heading -->\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avantages<\/h2>\r\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>La force principale de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire reste sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 fournir une production d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 en continu : un r\u00e9acteur fonctionne 24 heures sur 24, quelles que soient les conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques. Cela la rend hautement compl\u00e9mentaire aux sources d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie renouvelables, qui sont par nature intermittentes. Les r\u00e9acteurs de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration int\u00e8grent des syst\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 passive qui r\u00e9duisent consid\u00e9rablement le risque d&rsquo;accident tout en visant \u00e0 utiliser des combustibles innovants ou le recyclage du plutonium, offrant ainsi des avantages environnementaux potentiels \u00e0 long terme.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>D&rsquo;un point de vue climatique, l&rsquo;Agence internationale de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie (AIE) estime que le maintien ou l&rsquo;expansion de la part du nucl\u00e9aire pourrait \u00e9viter jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 quatre milliards de tonnes d&rsquo;\u00e9missions de CO\u2082 d&rsquo;ici 2050. De plus, une relance de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire g\u00e9n\u00e9rerait des avantages industriels significatifs. La croissance du secteur pourrait renforcer la fabrication europ\u00e9enne dans l&rsquo;ing\u00e9nierie de pr\u00e9cision, l&rsquo;automatisation et les mat\u00e9riaux avanc\u00e9s \u2014 des domaines dans lesquels l&rsquo;Italie et l&rsquo;Allemagne ont traditionnellement d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une expertise forte et largement r\u00e9partie.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:heading -->\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Limites<\/h2>\r\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 ses promesses, l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire reste une option complexe. Les co\u00fbts de construction sont \u00e9lev\u00e9s et les d\u00e9lais de d\u00e9veloppement sont longs. Bien que les SMR visent \u00e0 r\u00e9duire les deux, ils augmentent \u00e9galement le nombre d&rsquo;installations \u00e0 g\u00e9rer et la complexit\u00e9 des proc\u00e9dures d&rsquo;autorisation. Les technologies Gen-IV et la fusion nucl\u00e9aire n\u00e9cessitent encore des d\u00e9cennies de recherche avant d&rsquo;atteindre une pleine maturit\u00e9 industrielle. \u00c0 cela s&rsquo;ajoutent l&rsquo;opposition locale (l&rsquo;effet NIMBY) et le besoin d&rsquo;un cadre r\u00e9glementaire clair et stable, souvent mis \u00e0 mal par des engagements politiques incoh\u00e9rents. Ce sont des limites significatives qui prennent presque le caract\u00e8re d&rsquo;un d\u00e9fi id\u00e9ologique, car rien ne garantit que certaines des perc\u00e9es technologiques requises seront n\u00e9cessairement r\u00e9alis\u00e9es \u2014 ou m\u00eame largement accept\u00e9es.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>D&rsquo;un point de vue \u00e9conomique, les sources d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie renouvelables restent plus comp\u00e9titives aujourd&rsquo;hui. Le co\u00fbt actualis\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 (LCOE) pour le nucl\u00e9aire de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration est estim\u00e9 \u00e0 plus de 120\u2013150 $\/MWh, contre environ 40\u201360 $\/MWh pour l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie solaire et \u00e9olienne combin\u00e9e au stockage. N\u00e9anmoins, l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire est appel\u00e9e \u00e0 fournir une production de base fiable et une plus grande stabilit\u00e9 du r\u00e9seau, un r\u00f4le de plus en plus pr\u00e9cieux dans des syst\u00e8mes \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques domin\u00e9s par des sources renouvelables intermittentes.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:heading -->\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pourquoi (peut-\u00eatre) oui<\/h2>\r\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>Vue sous un autre angle, pour l&rsquo;Europe et l&rsquo;Italie, l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire n&rsquo;est pas un raccourci mais un choix strat\u00e9gique. Elle pourrait, \u00e0 terme, renforcer l&rsquo;ind\u00e9pendance \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, r\u00e9duire presque \u00e0 z\u00e9ro la consommation de gaz lors des pics de demande hivernaux et cr\u00e9er de nouvelles cha\u00eenes d&rsquo;approvisionnement industrielles \u2014 des composants de r\u00e9acteurs aux mat\u00e9riaux de fusion. Cependant, la r\u00e9alisation de ces objectifs n\u00e9cessite des politiques publiques coh\u00e9rentes, des investissements \u00e0 long terme et une approche r\u00e9aliste.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>Aujourd&rsquo;hui, les priorit\u00e9s restent l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie renouvelable, le stockage de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie et la gestion intelligente de la demande. Si le progr\u00e8s technologique est \u00e0 la hauteur des attentes, le \u00ab nouveau nucl\u00e9aire \u00bb pourrait se placer aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s du solaire, de l&rsquo;\u00e9olien et de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne comme l&rsquo;un des piliers d&rsquo;un syst\u00e8me \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique d\u00e9carbon\u00e9. Qu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;agisse d&rsquo;une suite ou d&rsquo;un tout nouveau d\u00e9part reste incertain.
